Review of the Core Skills Occupation List by Jobs and Skills Australia

Jobs and Skills Australia (JSA) will soon commence consultations to review the occupations listed on the Core Skills Occupation List (CSOL) for 2025.

The purpose of this review is to ensure that the skilled occupations available for migration continue to align with Australia’s workforce priorities and address current labour market shortages.

Details of the consultation process will be published on the Jobs and Skills Australia website, including opportunities for stakeholders to provide feedback.

Findings from the review will inform JSA’s advice to Government on potential updates to the composition of the CSOL.

The CSOL underpins the Core Skills stream of the Skills in Demand visa (subclass 482) and the Direct Entry stream of the Employer Nomination Scheme (subclass 186). It enables sponsoring employers to address genuine workforce shortages in eligible skilled occupations, either on a temporary or permanent basis.
