Education & Training Visas

Student Visa (subclass 500)

Students can apply online in or outside Australia and must be enrolled in a course of study in Australia, hold Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), must be 6 years or older, have welfare arrangements (under 18 students). The cost of this visa is from AUD710.00.

Student visa process can be complicated as you will need the confirmation of enrolment from the course provider. 

Student Guardian Visa (subclass 590)

This is a temporary visa to come to Australia to provide care and support for the student visa holder who is under 18 years of age. The applicant must be over 21 years of age, have sufficient funds to support themselves and the student during the stay, have adequate health insurance, be related to student as a parent, custodian or relative. There are other conditions applicable too.

Temporary Graduate Visa (subclass 485)

This temporary visa lets student stay, live, study and work after they have finishes studies in Australia. There are different streams available under this subclass as follows:-

Graduate Work stream

This visa is for recently graduated international students who have the skills and the qualifications to live, study and work in Australia.

Post Study Work stream

This visa is for international students who have recently completed a degree program from an Australian institution and is usually granted for 2- 4 years depending upon your qualification.

Training visa ( subclass 407)

This visa is for applicants who are sponsored, nominated, or invited as appropriate to visit Australia and complete a work-based training for their occupation. This is a temporary visa to improve your skills and for professional development training program.

Occupational Training Types

Nomination requirements for subclass 407 are different depending on the purpose or type of training you take part in.​
There are 3 types of occupational training covered by this visa:

  • Occupational training required for registration
  • Occupational training to improve skills in an eligible occupation
  •  Occupational training for capacity building overseas
