Skills Assessment
Skills assessment is carried out by the relevant skills assessing authority as they check that your skills meet the standards of a relevant or nominated occupation.
Some visa subclasses require skills assessment as a mandatory requirement of the visa application process. The applicants might need the skills assessment report if they are applying for General Skilled Migration (GSM) visas, Employer Sponsored visas, Skills in Demand visa (subclass 482) or a Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485).
The assessing authorities have their own requirements, fee and procedures. The processing times can vary between different authorities. The most popular assessing authorities include Australian Computer Society (ACS), Vocational Education and Training skills assessment (VETASSESS) , Trades Recognition Australia (TRA), Australian Community Workers Association (ACWA), Engineers Australia, CPA Australia and Australian Institute for Teaching and School leadership (AITSL).
Applicants may need to get skills assessed by the relevant assessing authority to be eligible for any of the below visas

Validity
Skill Assessments reports are generally valid for a period of 3 years from the date of issue or as per the date indicated on the assessment report.
