Employer Sponsored visas
Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) visa (subclass 186)
This visa is available to skilled workers, who are nominated by the Australian employer to live and work in Australia on permanent basis. The applicants can apply under one of following three streams,
- Direct Entry stream
- Labour agreement stream
- Temporary Residence Transition Stream
Skills in Demand (SID) Visa (subclass 482)
This visa enables employers to address labour shortages by bringing in skilled workers where employers can’t source an appropriately skilled Australian worker and allows most visa holders to stay in Australia for upto 4 years.
The SID has 3 streams:
• Core Skills stream to meet targeted workforce needs. Most SID visa holders will use this stream.
• Specialist Skills stream. This stream will help drive innovation and job creation.
• Labour Agreement stream. This stream will be replaced by an Essential Skills stream (under development)
Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional(provisional) visa (subclass 494)
This visa is available to skilled workers, who are nominated by the approved regional sponsor who cannot find suitably skilled Australian worker to work in the regional area.The applicants can apply under one of the following streams
- Employer Sponsored stream
- Labour Agreement stream
Points Tested visas
Skilled Independent Visa (subclass 189)
This visa is a points-tested permanent visa for skilled applicants who have an occupation on the relevant skilled occupation list, have a suitable skills assessment and being invited to apply and satisfy the points test.The cost of this visa is from AUD 4640.00. Members of the family unit can either apply with the primary applicant.
Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190)
This visa is a points-tested permanent visa for skilled applicants who have an occupation on the relevant skilled occupation list, have a suitable skills assessment and being invited by the state or the territory government agencyto apply and satisfy the points test. The cost of this visa is from AUD4640.00. Members of the family unit can either apply with the primary applicant.
Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491)
This visa is a points-tested temporary visa for skilled applicants to live and work in a regional area. The applicant must have an occupation on the relevant skilled occupation list, have a suitable skills assessment and being invited by the state or territory government agency, or sponsored by an eligible relative and satisfy the points test. This is a temporary visa with permanent visa Pathway option under subclass 191 visa. The cost of this visa is from AUD4640.00. Members of the family unit can either apply with the primary applicant or as a Subsequent entrant as a member of the family unit of the subclass 491 visa holder.
Parent visas (Temporary and Permanent visas)
There are a range of visa options for parents of Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents and eligible New Zealand citizens. Some parent visas involve a two-stage process with temporary visa option leading to permanent visa. The processing times and visa costs vary based on the subclass.
Parent visa (subclass 103)
This permanent visa lets a parent move to Australia if more of their children live in Australia than any other country.
Contributory Parent visa (subclass 143)
This visa lets the parent of a settled Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident of Australia or eligible New Zealand citizen live in Australia permanently.
Sponsored Parent visa(Temporary) (subclass 870)
This temporary visa lets a parent of an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen visit Australia for up to 3 or 5 years.
Contributory Aged Parent (Temporary) visa (subclass 884)
This visa is for parents of a settled Australian citizen, a permanent resident of Australia, or an eligible New Zealand citizen who want to stay temporarily in Australia.
Contributory Parent (Temporary) visa (subclass 173)
This visa lets the parent of a settled Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen live in Australia for 2 years with a pathway to permanent residence visa.
Aged Parent visa (subclass 804)
This permanent visa lets an older person move to Australia if more of their children live in Australia than any other country.
Visitor Visa- Subclass 600
This visa is for tourists, business visitors or to visit family and granted for 3, 6 or 12 months. There are various streams available under this visa subclass as follows,
- Tourist Stream- apply in Australia
- Tourist Stream- apply outside Australia
- Business stream
- Sponsored family stream
- Frequent traveller stream
- Approved Destination Status stream

- Prospective Marriage (subclass 300)
Partner visa (Temporary) (subclass 820)
This visa lets the partner or spouse of an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen live in Australia temporarily. Getting this visa is the first step towards a permanent Partner visa (subclass 801) and leads directly to subclass 801 visa.
Partner visa (Permanent)(subclass 801)
This visa lets the partner or spouse of an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen live in Australia permanently.
Partner (Migrant) visa (subclass 100)
The visa lets the partner or spouse of an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen, live in Australia permanently.
Partner (Provisional) visa (subclass 309)
The visa lets the partner or spouse of an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen live in Australia temporarily. Getting this visa is the first step towards a permanent Partner visa (subclass 100).
Prospective Marriage visa (subclass 300)
This visa lets you come to Australia to marry your prospective spouse and then apply for permanent residency. You can stay in Australia for between 9 and 15 months from date of grant of visa
