Closure of the Western Australia State Nominated Migration Program applications for 2023-24

WA Migration Services has stopped accepting new SNMP applications since 02 February 2024. It is worth noting that existing applications will continue to be assessed under the existing eligibility criteria, with eligible applicants being issued nominations (subject to availability of allocations). However, some eligible applications lodged prior to the program closure date will get affected and will not be considered as part of the 2023-2024 program. Any affected applicants will be contacted.

The WA Government made some changes to the requirements for the WA State Nominated Migration Program for applications lodged after July 2023 and these changes were built on the current relaxation of requirements making it easier for skilled migrants to connect with WA jobs. It had equal invitation ranking for Interstate and Overseas candidates with priority invitations for candidates with an occupation deemed critical in WA industry sector and reduced employment requirements for candidates invited through a WA building and construction industry sector occupation.

WA Government has launched the new Migration WA portal as part of the State Government’s response to skills demand and the new portal will help employers connect with migrants who want to join the workforce.

If anyone’s visa is expiring, it is important to contact the Registered Migration Agent (RMA) to explore options to stay lawfully in Australia.
